WINES OF ETNA ALLOCATION LIBRARY
With the guidance of Dr. Federico Latteri—Etna’s leading authority and author of the first guide to its wines, G&R Wine Auction has curated the Etna Wines Allocation Library, a focused selection of the volcano’s most compelling labels.
Its mission is twofold: to build a living library that demonstrates the age-worthiness — and consequent market revaluation — of Etna’s finest bottles over time; and to offer a unique allocation of top labels at highly advantageous entry pricing.
Backed by preferential terms from participating wineries, the Allocation Library creates a genuine investment opportunity, rewarding enthusiasts and collectors who champion the rise of Etna crus in the fine-wine market.
PORTFOLIO
G&R's Trade portfolio showcases Italy’s most iconic denominations through the producers who transformed them into legends. Biondi-Santi, creator of Brunello di Montalcino since 1896; Produttori del Barbaresco, exclusive heirs to Domizio Cavazza’s pioneering vision since 1958, who founded the Barbaresco denomination in 1894; Tenuta di Fiorano, Italian pioneer in Bordeaux blends since 1950; Sassicaia, the revolutionary Bolgheri Cabernet that defined the Super Tuscan category and gained DOC status in 1994; Montevertine, the first pure Sangiovese "Super Tuscan" since 1977; and Cannubi, the earliest historically awarded Barolo vineyard, documented since 1752 and vinified by Cantina Francesco Rinaldi, established in 1870.
The Etna selection—a region G&R Wine Auction was among the first to champion internationally—features Pinò by Gulfi, crafted from rare Burgundian Pinot Noir clones via Pierre Marie Guillaume, supplier to Domaine de la Romanée-Conti; Vico by Tenute Bosco, from ancient pre-Phylloxera vines over 140 years old on Etna’s northern slopes; and Magma by Frank Cornelissen, the uncompromising Grand Vin that channels the volcano’s raw energy.
With deep roots in Italy and a strong presence in Hong Kong, G&R Wine Auction is a trusted partner for collectors, connoisseurs, and professionals seeking authentic, carefully sourced Italian fine wines.
CLASSIFICATION OF GRAND CRU OF ITALY
Since its inception, G&R Wine Auction has championed the Classification of Grand Cru of Italy, a data-driven benchmark highlighting the 30 most coveted Italian labels among collectors and investors worldwide.
Modeled on the Bordeaux 1855 approach, the methodology is deliberately simple and transparent: the market decides. Rankings reflect two objective signals recorded in our auctions: price levels and sell-through performance (i.e., the lowest percentage of unsold lots).
Updated every two years, the Classification remains merit-based: if, across two consecutive reviews, a Grand Cru label shows an average hammer-price decline greater than 3% or an unsold rate above 10% in G&R Wine Auction sales, it is automatically removed.
The result is a living, market-tested index that spotlights the Italian wines that truly lead demand, clarity for collectors, confidence for investors.
